Community Member Highlight - Danny Lindsay
Pastor Danny Lindsay is one of the great and admirable community leaders on the Fort Peck Reservation. From his weekly sermon in the local newspaper to his weekly street service at the park, Pastor Lindsay has made it his mission to spread the gospel and reach people on the Reservation. After dedicating his life to Christ in 1977, Danny Lindsay has worked tirelessly to help people on the Reservation for many years, including pastoring at Overcomers Church in Wolf Point. In addition, he ran the community soup kitchen providing food five days a week for anyone who needed a warm meal. Last year, he started preaching in a small park in front of the local grocery store where he gave approximately 17 sermons last year and hopes to continue more this year. This summer, his street services are on Wednesdays at 6pm. The park is a popular gathering place that many times includes homeless or individuals struggling from alcohol or drug abuse . It is evident that pastor Lindsay's sermons' have made an impact and you can see the engagement he receives from his audience. During his sermons, he immediately draws the attention of everyone around him when he speaks about his own struggle with substance abuse and his testimony of how Christ saved him from the low points in his life. His words invite people to seek God and find freedom from their addiction through faith in Christ. He urges people to work on changing their lives for the better and offers support, care, and attention to people who are often ignored and overlooked.
After each street service, he blesses the park congregation with the home-cooked meal he prepared and enjoys fellowship with everyone in the park. Food is a universal language and regardless if the people in the park that day agree with what the Pastor is saying, they all appreciate and respect his efforts to reach out to them. Currently, Lindsay is working on starting an afternoon Sunday service at the local church for individuals struggling with drug abuse and alcoholism. He understands the fight with this disease can be all consuming, taking every second of every day; therefore imperative to make more support and resources available!
We are proud of the work Danny Lindsay is doing and we hope he continues mobilizing the people on the Fort Peck Reservation with God’s Word.
