Enjoying and Living Life to the Fullest

Do you ever wish you could run across a meadow sprinkled with wildflowers, eyes shut, hair flying around your head, and the warm glow of the sun upon your face? That is the thought I woke up to today. Then I looked outside and saw that our yard was covered in snow and my heart sank. My first thought was “No! It can’t possibly be this cold already!” A few moments later, my brother walked into my room and said “Look out your window!” As I looked out a second time, I realized how wrong my first thought had been. The trees glistened perfectly as snow elegantly draped upon them. Below, the untouched snow was illuminated by the sun. It really was magnificent.

Lately, I have been reminded to enjoy and live life to the fullest. I can get so wrapped up with worrying or wanting to accomplish bigger things that I forget to thoroughly enjoy life. This year, while homeschooling, I have found myself bored with the everyday mundane tasks of life, like partaking in the same routine day in and day out and seeing the same faces. It’s so easy to get caught up in focusing on the things we don’t like rather than embracing all the wondrous things that surround us. I am working on deliberately focusing on the blessings of life.

Since homeschooling this year, I get to learn about a broad spectrum of topics while focusing on God. I get to spend time playing with my dog and training him to be a therapy animal. I get to marvel at the daycare kids as they reach new milestones. I get to build stronger relationships with the people I see every day. Does that sound like a dull or joyless day? I think not! We are constantly being blessed with opportunities to enjoy life and to use it to its full potential by glorifying God through it. So rather than being upset on your next “snowy day”, use it to glorify God and I promise that you’ll find joy through it.
